In some cases, customs/import duties are charged once the parcel enters its destination country. Stieglitz takes care of the shipment, but not of the possible additional expenses.

Stieglitz has no control over these charges and cannot give more information about the additional cost. We’d suggest to contact your local customs office for more information on the current rules, so you won’t be surprised by unexpected fees.

Unfortunately, we are unable to calculate these fees at the time of purchase. Orders with unpaid duties returned to the Netherlands will incur a 15% restocking fee unless otherwise discussed.

Extra taxes upon arrival in the United Kingdom can be explained as a result of Brexit. From 1 January 2021, VAT and customs regulations make a distinction based on the value of goods sent to the United Kingdom. The threshold is £135. According to the custom regulations:

Goods not exceeding £135 in value: the goods are liable to United Kingdom VAT. There are no additional charges the customer will be charged for upon receipt of the goods.

Goods exceeding £135 in value: the goods are liable to United Kingdom VAT. There is an additional customs import fee of approximately 20%.
